sildenafil feeling a bit anxious

User
Posted 02 Jan 2019 at 09:52

Hi I have just been prescribed 50mg of  sildenafil I am a bit anxious about taking them  looking for other people's experiences of using this with the similar  treatment I am on.

Bicalutamide 150mg and amlodipine 10mg.

Completed 37 fractions of RT last year.

Thanks

Hi Mike, I can understand that you may have some anxiety taking Sildenafil in light of other meds you are on.  What was the reason given to you for them being prescribed?  Did you ask for them?  Sildenafil/Viagra is supposed to do a job, provide a function for you at a specific time, or over a specific time range.  Have you discussed your anxiety with the person who prescribed it for you?   It may be worth noting that they do not work for everyone all the time, sometimes none of the time.

Best to seek advice from your GP.  Good luck with it all.

Dark Rainbow - not a helpful reply since Mike has already indicated that he is on medication for high blood pressure.

And while both alcohol and Viagra can lower blood pressure, there is no guideline that says men must not have alcohol if they have taken a viagra tablet - simply that alcohol makes it more difficult to get an erection.

Mike

I was taking 100mg of sildenafil daily, the first few days the world looked slightly blue and my nose would block up.

I was taking meds for BP, Gout and cholesterol but not the meds you mentioned.

Thanks Chris

Following my husband's treatment he was prescribed cialis (tadalafil) 5mg per day for blood flow to aid 'rehab' and healing.. he got a terrible rash and aches in his legs so was advised to stop.

The consultant then prescribed sildenafil (viagra)50 mg to help with erection strength and stability during the recovery period, this gave him headaches so the consultant moved him to levitra.

Now its been ages since he needed any help he has admitted levity gave him headaches too ...he decided not to mention it to either me or the consultant as he believed he was out of options and his libido was never changed!

So give it a go,,, you can stop if you don't get on with it

Good Evening Mike

My respond would be a different than others

I had RP surgery almost a month ago...since than my bedroom / sex life has changed dramatically

Penis size is obviously noticeable short now

Plus I cannot have sex when ever I wish to.

(You can add the physiological way disappointment too)

Still over my belly stiches are hanging

I'm not proud of saying this but I was a sex addict man until last month...can,t remember how many girl friend I had so far.was married twice though in the UK and USA .I was attending private house party,s I was in London Sauna,s regular customer I was taking those viagra etc tablets way back to 2008  until 2018  December regularly

Nothing was wrong with my erections by than its just they were given me extra power /energy  for my extra performances thats all.

Some days I was taking them more than one yes was taking them double of 50 mg  each.

Please have my words seriously they are not dangerous as long as if  your not diabetic or have heart problems you would be fine.

Please also note that .before the entertainment in your bedroom..Please  DO NOT MIX THE VIAGRA WITH ALCHOL  AT ALL!!!!!!! if you want to have a good performance with help of Viagra No alchol and coffee or energy drinks please caffein as harmful as alchol if you take viagra same time.

Good luck

Hi Dr,

Maybe start another thread so people can help and respond to your specific issues?

But, only 1 month after RP! 2 or 3 weeks with a catheter? You may be in the starting blocks, but your new race is more likely to be a marathon than sprint.

If you are patient, persistent and work at your rehab who knows what you may recover and achieve, in time. Improvements can be achieved and realised beyond the supposed "at 2 years it's as good as it gets".

Your views on mixing meds and alcohol may be pertinent to you, but we are all different. Nobody knows what effects others may achieve by mixing and trying.

I wish you well.

That's great- be aware though that if you have an erection for more than 4 hours you must go to A&E and take the tablets with you. Prolonged erection can cause serious and permanent damage.

Glad it's worked for you, Mike. The one time I tried it (out of curiosity) it gave me a splitting headache!

Who can confirm ? If your’e on daily 5mg Ciallis should you stop for 1 day if you want to take a Sildenafil ? i know you probably shouldn’t need to if the Ciallis is working but curious.

For me the Sildenafil 100mg was excellent as it was for Mike. Just starting the journey with Ciallis daily 5mg which works but not as good as the Sildenafil.

Finding the Ciallis is giving me weird dreams or is it the Mirtazapine? can’t expand on here about the dreams   😳

You should miss the cialis if you intend to take a viagra / Levitra or use caverject / muse / vitaros that day.

If you want to try out the event dose of cialis for a change, you take the normal one plus 2 or 3 extra.

Interestingly, as Viagra and Levitra are becoming less effective in our house, John asked the GP for a prescription for muse or vitaros, just to see how it went. The GP declined but gave him a prescription for 20mg cialis instead which we tried at the weekend with great success.

Thanks for all your feedback

I was prescribed them at the hospital to help in the bedroom area it was the side effects I was worried about but I suppose if you take notice of all meds side effects you would not take any.

Good question.

My experience is many years out of date, I am pleased to say.   But.

I'm on daily 5mg cialis. 28 at a prescription.

8 x viagra per month.

Inhibitors to successful activity include anxiety and worry.  The fear of not rising to the occasion and the expectation.

For me trial and error to overcome this involved:

1.  playing about with the meds.  I have never ever missed my daily cialis even if I'm taking, going to be taking, planning on taking, thinking about taking a viagra.  Once tried 3 Viagra in one evening, on top of the daily cialis, gave me a mild headache, nothing else.

I would not do this, or even consider it if I were you.  I took a serious and dangerous risk which was stupid.

2.  Lots of beer, or wine or both.  According to my GP when I queried this approach and results, apparently, lots of beer or wine sufficiently relaxes the mind so that you no longer worry about results, you just get on with it. The upside is I have a great time.   Apparently.  The downside is that I don't remember it the following day.

I'll try the 4 x 5mg cialis dosage in the next few days, and see how that works.

But actually, after RRP in May 2013 I am doing very well in all areas.

The issue with forums is  that you generally read about issues.

The gladness I have in my situation is tinged with the sadness I feel for those not as fortunate, or no longer there.

For anyone struggling with ED, they may have to look at the issue of potential and future sex through fresh eyes, take a chance and be radical.

Thanks Dave & Lynn,

I guess i knew the answer really and Dave i am so glad for you that you are 'working'well.

The results of the Viagra 100mg are based on how much i was aroused during the hours after, not unfortunately on the basis of how well it worked for sex https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/Scripts/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif. The Ciallis seems to work , just not as well. I am on a bit of a solo mission at the moment with hopes for some help in the future https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/Scripts/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif,and I want to be in the best condition when my wife is ready.

I will try to get the 5mg of Ciallis and 100mg Viagra for events, should any arise ! Neither of these seem to give me any side effects.

Like most I suppose at my stage, 1 year after diagnosis and starting HT , 5 months after Brachy and RT , i am absolutely terrified of the future. A lot is the worry of the strain on my relationship with my wife. Its not easy for the other halves is it and she doesn't want to talk about the sex part at the moment. I know when diagnosed with this disease we sometimes get a bit obsessed with the sex part.

Dave, how did you get on with the pump ? I am struggling both mentally and physically with it. Understand i have to persevere................

Good luck and 'live long and prosper' as someone once said ....

Phil
