Superb photos, Steve; especially the one of Yorkhull on his own and Jamie lounging against the post while he did his talk - thank God for brave oncos like Jamie xxx

I am confused though - were these taken before or after the guys all came out in their mankinis?

Very good pics Steve, sorry you will not be there this year.

Also, sorry that it seems Jamie will not be there for another much appreciated talk and Q&A session.

Steve, Thanks so much for posting those excellent photos. It's a stroke of genius!

I wish I'd thought of contacting you to do just that months ago.

The album perfectly captures the spirit of the event.

If anyone feeling apprehensive about joing us sees those photos, I'm sure they'll feel much more inclined to book their places now.

As you said, great, enduring friendships are made and we really look forward to meeting friends old and new every summer.

THERE'S STILL PLENTY OF TIME TO BOOK UP. The number coming so far is over 30, and the room can seat 60.

Kevan? I am delighted to see you're now joining us. Don't worry about meeting us all, because by the end of th day you'll feel like you've known everybody for years, and I promise you, the day is about having a good, laid back, relaxing time.

You'll have noticed a lot of smiles in Steve's pics!

Once again, thank you Steve. I'm sorry we won't see you this year, but I do hope you're with us at The Mill in 2019.

All the very best,

George.

Hi,

Thanks everyone for your nice comments about my pictures. I could only take those pictures because everyone was so friendly and clearly enjoying themselves.

I just wanted to mention that you can download pictures from the album which would be a nice souvenir for anyone who was there. There's no charge for doing this.

HI everyone,

Well we are nearly in June so that means we are less that 4 weeks away from the meet up.!

As George has said we are just on the 30 attending mark so if you are still deliberating over coming then there are still places. Please join us, you will be made to feel extremely welcome. Take a look at the photo's that NikonSteve has posted a little further up the message board. I hope that will reassure you that we don't eat new members or throw them to the lions!!

I will be emailing a handful of people who haven't confirmed their menu choices to me in the next day or so. So, if you know your 'guilty' of this feel free to contact me and get your name removed from the naughty list..lol. Joking aside - please can I ask that you come back to be asap ( if you get an email) so I can start giving the hotel some approx numbers and quantities.

Best Wishes

Sue

Hi everyone,

Apologies in the lateness of this post - time seems to be running away from me at the moment.

We are all systems go for Saturday.  Food booked, speaker booked, evening arrangements confirmed.  I've had no new joiners and just one drop out so I won't re-post the list.

One question - will there be a raffle -Mill on the Soar was asking regarding tables.  I didn't know the answer so I said I would ask those that know!

could someone let me know either way - thank you.

So myself and Ann will be there from early morning and the room/bar will be open from 1pm and the 'do' starts from 2pm.

See you all there

Sue

Hi Sue, a table, as usual, will be useful as I usually take a small selection of PCUK literature, badges and collecting tin. And I’m sure George will have his memorial photos which usually go on the wall behind the table.

We have had a raffle over the past few years, I’m happy to take tickets and if anyone wants to take a small prize that would be good.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.

Hi Sue,

Given the smaller numbers this year, I think the big round tables will be best. They seat about 6 people.

I'm sure Janet and I will make sure the room is set properly when we check on Friday night.

Don't worry, be happy! ; )

And as Janet has said (above) "Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones."

See you soooooon!

George

Hello everyone,

Well what a lovely afternoon both Ann and I had putting faces to names and finding out so much about you as a group.

Our apologies to anyone who had issues with the hotel accommodation, as we said on the day we think this was down to human error on the hotel staff part.  Thankfully, you all seemed to be pretty chilled guys who took it all in your stride.

I do hope you enjoyed the talk from Julian.

I will be emailing out later on for feedback on the day.

Many thanks

Thanks Sue, and yes, Julian’s talk was excellent.

And it was good to meet new people and catch-up with old friends.

Thanks, too, to everyone who bought raffle tickets, brought prizes, gave donations or bought pin badges.

Thank You Sue and Ann, and CONGRATULATIONS after your first time hosting this annual event.

All went well, and your choice of speaker was inspired. What a good guy Julian was!

In fact he went out of his way to introduce himself to us all after the talk, and to hand out his details so that anyone of us could contact him about his work with DNA and Cancer.

I have to say it was a joy to meet people who were there for the first time, It wasn't long before they felt like friends we'd known for years. It was Grrrrrrrreat to meet you!

And a message for Janet (jlbatty)....You're a star! As always you organised a good raffle,( raising a suprpising amount of money for Prostate.Cancer UK), as well as having your usual PCUK Display table in pride of place.

To Chris (Exbus) and Shirley, THANK YOU FOR ALL THOSE PHOTOS you took.

It must have taken ages to get them all transferred to my inbox by Sunday night.

I'll be in touch with Sue about where she plans to place them all.

Frankly, I haven't even had time to put them on the B2PCa gallery yet.

Normally this is done within two days.

I must apologise for the delay in posting this message. I woke up on Monday morning knowing I had a serious chest infection. I rang my GP and got strong meds and steroids the same day.

Generally, this glitch wouldn't be a huge problem, but Lynn and I had to drive 350 miles to Warminster on Wedsday as we'd booked rooms there because we'd promised our youngest daughter (Katrina) and her friend that they could have a full day at Longleat on Thursday.

I was so shattered on the big day, that I had to stay in bed, while Lynn took the girls over to the park for opening time.

And Lynn to do a lot more of the driving home on Friday than I did..

Never mind, they all had a fabulous day at Longleat, and that's what really matters.

But get this! It was only on the Monday when I got my prescription that it dawned on me you have to stay out of sunshine while taking these particular antibiotics. That was a 'Duh' moment.

How can anyone have avoided sunshine this past week? Oh well, I am certainly NEVER going to complain about sunshine!!

Once again,

Thanks everybody for helping make it yet another thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Stay well my friends,

George

George,. It was good to meet you at last in the flesh and I hope you regain your full fitness as soon as possible. I was only at the pub for the afternoon but it was really good to hear what the very impressive prof had to say. I'm glad I met him. And what a rare pleasure to win in the raffle. I almost never have such luck. So I echo your thanks to Janet for her good work. If anyone reading this hasn't been before, do make sure you go next year!

Good to catch up again, although Barbara and I had to be elsewhere in the evening so missed the evening meal unfortunately.

Thanks to organizers and all who helped.

***EVENT SURVEY***

Hi everyone,

I recently sent out a survey via 'Survey Monkey' to ask you feedback from those that attended on the day

Thank you to everyone who has already replied.  I've just re-sent the email again,  If you didn't receive the original email can I ask that you check you junk mail, just in case it has diverted there automatically.  We really want your feedback so we can evaluate the day.

I am planning to send out a wider survey to the whole community to help us understand and consieder what the level of interest is, for the future of the the event.

Many thanks

Sue
