Thanks George, for posting the info above, while I have been on leave. And thanks for everyone who has emailed me to say they are attending. We are still in the process of organising speakers but will let you know when this is done.

Best wishes

Ann

**REMINDER**

Hi everyone

As many of you know, some members of the online community have held a meetup once a year, at the Mill on the Soar, near Leicester. People are very welcome to also bring along partners or family members as well even if they do not participate in the online community.

I've agreed to organise the meetup this year and here are the details:

Date: Saturday 23rd June 2018

Venue: Mill on the Soar, https://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/locations/mill-soar#LiveResAnchor

Address: Coventry Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE9 6QD, GB

Mill on the Soar telephone number: 01455 282419

Time: 2pm onwards

Format: The meetup starts around 2pm and there are some introductions and one or two short talks as well as a buffet to enjoy. People are free to stay for as long or short a time as they wish.

Costs: £10 per head.  Please can you make donations to Prostate Cancer UK via any of the 'donate' options listed on our website

The buffet (which will include vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free options is £10 per head.  When you book your place with me I will send information on how to pay for the buffet.

Accommodation for people wishing to stay at the Mill should be booked direct with the hotel at the above phone number. Rooms are limited so please do book early if you wish to stay over. Cost of rooms has been agreed with the hotel as £60 per room, including           breakfast. This is slightly more than last year, however the buffet cost is slightly less.

If you are planning to come please let me know by emailing ann.innes@prostatecanceruk.org

I'd like to say a huge thank you to George who has organised the meetup for many years and is now having a well earned break. I hope that I can manage to organise things as well as he has done in the past!

Hi Denise,

Would you like me to put you down as a provisional attendance.  If you decide to come along then we can add you to the catering about a 7-10 days beforehand.

either message me here or at sue.boyes@prostatecanceruk.org

best wishes

I would like to come as indicated before. But some experts put me off.
The attendance list doesn't include people I have been talking to. Please bear in mind that I depend on this website.......You have helped me so much already! Ann said that someone would be in touch to confirm buffet payment but that hasn't happened so I am not arranging attendance.

Rich - Looking at the recent messages, my guess is that Ann is either ill or has left which is probably why she hasn’t been in touch! And when you read this again tomorrow, you will realise that you haven’t actually seen an attendance list - this is just a few names that George is passing on to Sue, who is obviously stepping up in Ann’s absence. Cut her some slack perhaps?

No animosity intended there whatsoever, sorry if it came across like that. Could I be any worse at this??????????

Anne and Sue were not the "expert/s" I was referring to! ;)

Hi Rich, Sue has taken over looking after the attendees list and you will be given buffet payment directions when her list is complete, so long as you have already let her or Ann know you are attending.

George’s list is of people who have been attending for years, and I think he is just making sure they are on lists for Sue and Ann. We always have a mixture of old and new folks there, we’ve all been new at some stage, and it is always good to welcome the newbies, although sad you need to be here.

I know what you mean about not meeting up with people you are talking to here. But there is still time for some to sign up, they may already be signed up or for some they won’t be as the date isn’t good for them or travelling may be difficult.

But the bonus with meeting new folks is that it increases the number of people to talk to and exchange opinions. This is the really great thing about the meet up, and it really is a friendly event.

Hope to meet you at The Mill.

Janet

Hi Rich,

Good to see your query (and you made me smilehttps://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif, thank you!).

Lyn is right. There's a chageover of organisers. Ann Innes has been promoted within Prostate Charity UK, and Sue Boyles has had to step in quickly.

Sue has worked for the charity for many years and her name will be familiar to PCa Support Groups nationwide.

She's having to play 'catch up' at the moment and I'm helping her in any way I can.

I think your name mustn't be on the group email list for the June 23rd do.

Sue is busy putting together an updated list.

See the latest group email (below) and contact her

--------------------------------------------------------

Here's her message:

Hi everyone,

Please accept my apologies for any confusion that may have been caused regarding the buffet cost and method of payment.

To assist us with the cost of the buffet please can we ask that you make a £10 per head donation by using any of the options which are listed on the Prostate Cancer UK site's 'Donate' page:

https://prostatecanceruk.org/get-involved/donate

and then email me when you have done so, at:

sue.boyes@prostatecanceruk.org

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss anything to do with the event arrangements.

Kind Regards

Sue

PS. My favourite ditzy blonde Janet must have been typing at the same time as me.

This will have come as a shock to her, as she knows I sometimes sleep till 1pm!https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

I asked weeks ago so I could book a room. None left now? This is why I was asking! Well, maybe next year if I'm still alive ;) Massive waste of time.

Hi Rich, did you phone Mill on the Soar, or check online? It’s worth calling them as people sometimes cancel and rooms become available. You could maybe see if they have a ‘waiting list’. Or you could book one of the B&Bs George mentions. Or there are hotels reasonably close by - I know people have stayed at The Marriott previously.

Hope you find a way to get there, and anyone else does who is still thinking about going.

Janet, x
