Are we not having a theme this year? The year that everyone wore hawaiian shirts and grass skirts was great fun and I still have the photos from the year all the men wore dresses!

Good evening Sue,

Can you say who the speakers are for the weekend, and what their specialist areas are please? And when they will be speaking, a timetable or programme?

I would be particularly interested in information on what happens if you need follow up treatment after a RRP, and how this has improved really recently. Statistically, I shall be in play in that area soon I suspect. Not so interested in someone telling me how to leave stuff to a charity in my will, which was presented last year. What little I have will go to my family and friends.

Do you plan to have Jamie (Simon's Onco) attending?

He's so good to hear speaking. Worth attending just to hear him. Even when he gives you bad news, it sounds perversely good.

Do all you can to help yourself, then make the best of your time. :-)

Lyn, you ARE naughty, but we love ya!https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif

No 'themes' at The Mill, just the usual casual summer stuff, but someone who shall remain nameless suggested BIKINIS & MANKINIS!https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif

But I will give you a clue to the culprit's identity.

Both he and his good wife are retired coach drivers.https://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif

Thanks George.

I have to be honest and say I am a bit apprehensive as Nigel is still so full of fear. I'm really hoping that meeting you guys will help him.

He finished his RT 2 weeks ago, he has been exhausted but is picking up a bit now.

Look forward to seeing you in June. :)

Hello Lillie, I understand Nigel’s and your apprehension but can assure you that you will be with supportive people who will help so much. Having been there for the last few years I have got to know the regulars but there are always newbies too, a unique blend of circumstances and experiences, but above all support and understanding. The banter here may sometimes make it appear lighthearted or cliquey but it really isn’t. Looking forward to meeting you both. Janet, x

The first year, J refused to come with me so I attended alone. Good decision - it was such a relief to be with people who 'get it' and I had no trouble getting him to come with me in the following years.

George, it was your suggestion not mine, we’re too modest, but I have asked Shirley to have some extra BOOBS again!

Quick Update on where we are at for the 23rd June:

I've received confirmation from the following:

ALAN & CELIA TAYLOR

BARRY & BARBARA GOWN

Boyd Brooks

CHRIS & SHIRLEY BUTCHER

DAN SENCIER

DAVID & LYNNE

GEORGE HARDY (x3)

JANET DAYKIN

PAUL SENIOR

TERRI McCOO

TOM & LINDA SUGGITT

WALTER BOYLE

Graham Titterton

total= 21

At the moment this would appear to quite a drop from last years attendance? If anyone knows of someone who is intending to go and their name is not on this list please can you let me know.

We haven't done a timetable yet? is this something people want? As the main purpose  is for  everyone to meet up and socialise, rather than to be speaker orientated.  We have made arrangements for a short talk from a leading researcher on The 100,00 Genomes Project. which is helping  to  understand  how cancer can run in families. In particular he will talk about the relationship between prostate and breast cancer. I have heard him talk and it is extremely interesting and more importantly easy to follow!

More information to follow nearer the time

Sue

Thank you, Sue, the short talk does sound interesting, but as you say the main reason for the event is to meet and socialise and it would be nice if more people could sign up. I know some of our regulars can’t make this date for various reasons this year, but if anyone is hesitating, please sign up, you will be made most welcome.

Janet, x

Hi,

I just want to encourage anyone thinking about coming to this year's event to come along, you won't regret it.  You will make good friends and will feel so much better.  The food is really good too.

If you need anymore encouragement, have a look at an album of photographs that I took at a previous event.  Here's the link:

                                                             https://flic.kr/s/aHsmc1Hdq1

Sadly, I won't be there this year as I'm photographing a wedding on that date.  I'm really disappointed as I regard this event as a highlight of my year.

I hope everyone has a wonderful time, I will be thinking of you all on the day.

All the Best,

Steve

Well I have just let Sue know that I have decided to pop along for the afternoon, despite not being a great socialiser. It will be nice to meet a few people and learn a bit more.
