results today is it back..?

User

Hi - just got 8 week psa results unfortunately they have jumped to 1.0

Husband said he had nippy pee /cloudy and smelly and frequency which stopped 3 days before bloods were taken could this be the reason it has spiked or are we looking at a return of the cancer.....?

Since RT he has been 0.1 0.1 0.2 0.2 0.4 and now 1.0

we are devastated to be honest......

Radiotherapy stopped November 2018 and HT September 2018

thanks

Results are in.....

5 months since the last one and almost 2 years with no treatment

Today the results were 0.2!

Just wanted to post some good news on a dreary dreich day!

4 years since we started the Journey, 2 years post RT no treatment (7 weeks of RT) and Hormones (8 months of hormones)

Its been a bit up and down results have been (post radiotherapy and on no treatment)

<0.1, 0.2 0.2 0.4 1.0 (UTI) 0.4 and 0.2

lots of love

Jen

Great news Jen, long may it continue.

I have my PSA test on 14th. Last one was 0.97 so hoping it hasn’t gone any higher. I’m 2 years now since RT finished and 11 months since last HT injection.

That is really great news Jen , long may it continue. Did they tell you the PSA may go up after the HT finished ? They told me mine would go back to around 2 so 0.2 is fantastic result.
My PSA has now gone back up to 2.75 in a similar timeframe for RT. Hormones finished just over a year ago.

Hi Phil - yes they said it could go up after RT but they said everybody is different. The Consultant said when it bounced up he was within the "bounce timeframe" - 18ths-2 years however it turned out he had a mild UTI which caused the bounce to 1 and it came down again to 0.4 and then 0.2

Its amazing how worrying it is when it goes up even slightly and the wait for the next result is excruciating. I am wishing you all the best with your next result Phil.

Good news, and a lesson for all of us that these figures can bounce around a bit and it does not mean the end of the world.

It could still be nothing - biochemical recurrence is defined as 2.0 + nadir (in your case, 0.1) so it might simply be his testosterone has recovered and the healthy prostate cells regenerating. And a UTI could push it up temporarily. However, 0.4 to 1.0 is quite a rise in 8 weeks so it is sensible to have scans if the oncologist suggests it.

Fingers crossed it was just the UTI.

Thanks Lyn

Much appreciated - we are pretty gutted and trying to hold onto any hope possible.

Just an update after speaking to the Oncologist - Telephone Consultation.

He still believes Husband is in the realms of the "psa bounce" following RT (he is 16 months post RT)

He wants to retest in 6 weeks especially since there was a potential urine infection.

If it goes up them it will be MRI - he would like to do CT but in the current environment they will hold off for now.

So we are a bit less low today and will get on with life until the results in 6 weeks

RESULTS IN!
Back to 0.4 - thrilled!

18 months post RT (they jumped to 1 and it looks likely the OH had had a UTI just before his bloods were taken but he didn't want to say anything (???!!!).

post RT psa: <0.1(July 2018 8 weeks after finished HT) then 4 monthly 0.1,0.2, 0.2, 0.4, 1.0 (Burger!) so 6 week test 0.4 today 18 months

Just wanted to share.

RT is definitely a rollercoaster but we are happy with the scores on the doors.

Stay well

Gosh Ulsterman so are we! - it was absolute torture waiting on this one and the Surgery couldn't find the results so we rang the Hospital who were great and tracked it down.

Have a good weekend (as good as it can be in lockdown!)

Hi Barry - have no fear they will be booked into the Diary on a regular basis!

I am guessing he may move from 3 monthly (although it was 4 monthly) to 6 monthly but we are happy with what they suggest as long as its on a regular basis.
