felling worried

Hi,feeling worried l had a blood test on monday as i was having problems with urine flow, got phone call from doctors please come to surgery as soon as you can on tuesday,doc told me i had a slightly raised score of 30 and that i need to see a urologist, now reading up about prostrate we are starting to get worried.is there a need to be worried ?

Hi Scoobysdad, Don't worry - worrying is a complete waste of time and won't help. You need to see what the Urologist has to say and go from there. IF it does turn out to be prostate cancer, and in my case it was, get the toolkit from this site and start to see how you feel about any options they offer you. The first step though is to get the diagnosis for the cause of the raised PSA - get your consultant referal sorted and try to use denial to park it until the appointment comes through.

Just to say that I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. All you can do is listen to what they have to say and ask any questions that you have.
Depending on what they say, you can then decide what (if anything) needs to be done. Should you need it there is plenty of help and advice available on this site.

I am afraid that if you become a fully paid up member of the PCa club then you will become accustomed to waiting for results and then possibly moving on to different treatments.
I came to terms with this early on as it is a fact of life and so at the moment isn't a problem for me.
Easy to say but try to just move a step at a time and just make sense of each test result as it comes along.

Well done, that's one more thing done and it looks as though it won't be long before all the other tests are completed.

As Kevin said earlier, waiting is part of the game, we've kind of got used to it and can generally put it out of our minds in between results. We more or less live appointment by appointment (2 this week, one next if another doesn't arise from today's appointment). I think you learn to go with it once you've got the full results. Good luck.

Ow indeed scoobysdad, I know from experience how painful that can be and that's without the addition of PC worry.

Don't envy you any of that lot all in an afternoon but fair play to you as you seem to have taken it in your stride.
Hope you get your results soon and that your other problems improve quickly.

Have you already downloaded the Toolkit Scoobysdad as it may help you with questions to ask.


 


Don't forget pen and paper to write the answers and/or take somebody with you. Two pairs of ears are better than one, specially when trying to take in all the information.


 


Please come back if you want advice.  My only advice at this stage (assuming you are not told there is urgency) is to take your time making a decision.


Not all men get the possible side effects but you have to be aure in your own mind that you can cope with those possible results.

hi,ive been on hormones for 5 weeks now, on the six month injection, doing very well the only side effects are the flushes but they aren't  to bad, had a new psa test ,first test 31.5,3 month test 9.2.......gleason 4+3 and 4+4 stage 4,t3b,advanced but no spread, cant have op due to breaking out of the prostate so hormones and rt.Feeling very well going back to work on 4th sept...oh and received the man of men t-shirt today but i don't know how as i haven't bought or ordered one and it actually fits

As for the T. shirt, how odd

(Mind you grandson number three text to ask if I had ordered him a new hat. I hadn't and he can't find who sent it to him)

Hi Scoobysdad,

It is very worrying when you get the call and of course you start to panic as i did but once i saw the urologist i found the treatment and diagnosis very fast and professional.It was found that i had early prostate cancer but it was picked up very early so i went for Brachytherapy that i had done in September 2016 and so far i am recovering well with regular blood tests and follow ups with my Specialist.
Try not to worry as you will be in good hands for you future treatment.Good luck.

Tomorrow 27th is just about here after the 2 week wait, feeling nervous so won't be long now, going in with a good frame of mind.

Hi,seen urologist today, had dre, prostate is large, score is 31,going in on thursday for urine flow test, then monday for truss biopsy and possible scan, results 10 days later, so more waiting, feeling worried now

Hello again, truss biopsy today 10 taken,wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, nuclear injection and whole body bone scan next monday,and they trying to get an mri scan done this week, things seem to be speeding up.
