Levitra on NHS

Has anyone had difficulty getting Levitra on repeat prescription on NHS? I get side effects with cialis and viagra but find that Levitra works well and seems more specific in its action.

On moving to a different CCG area I am finding a reluctance to allow it on repeat prescription (4 tablets per month) on NHS.

I can't specifically answer re: Levitra except our GP was reluctant to offer it initially and insisted on trying Sildenafil first, presumably because it is so much cheaper now it's patent has run out. I'm sure we are allowed 4 x 100mg of those a month.

As that initially helped we haven't pursued Levitra but a new surgery etc may well be looking to save themselves some money. I tried googling NICE guidelines for Levitra but it's all a bit vague and I expect you went down that route to check anyway.

Would the nurses on here know what the guidelines are I wonder. I'm sure Lyn knows.

Anyway, sorry can't help but perhaps I've bumped your request and somebody else may have the answer for you.

John gets 4 x Levitra and 4 x Viagra each month on repeat prescription from the GP. He doesn't actually request the prescription every month because he doesn't use that many but it is there if he wants it. The GP wouldn't prescribe the Levitra until he had a letter from the ED nurse recommending it.

Re Johsan's comment - the guidelines are that men with ED as a result of prostate cancer (or due to side effects of the treatment of it) are entitled to 4 'events' per month .... someone decided that the average man has sex once a week. So it shouldn't matter whether it is 4 injections, 4 Levitra, 4 large dose Cialis or 4 Viagra. Kindly GPs will go beyond the NICE guidelines and allow a man the opportunity of sex twice a week or even more - once we pointed out to the GP that he is older than John and probably has sex quite often, he offered 12 tablets a month (which we politely declined as over-egging it :-# )

^ha ha!!

We seem to be incredibly lucky. Our GP prescribes both daily cialis and viridal on request. He did raise his eyebrows at prescribing both together, but we just said that the ED nurse suggested trying it (she did).

It may be because he missed a PSA of 6.8 and only repeated the test because oh went for something unrelated, but we can't fault him since
