Ouch! Bad and Good...

Now I have never been one to complain about life but having been taking Cialis for the last three weeks and had the Somaerect ll sitting waiting for use I saw the pump rep on Friday and had trimmed my bush in readiness for his instructions. After he had shown me how to use the pump in the proper manner he suggested that I trim my bush a little bit mor so after giving my head a trim with the clippers this morning I thought that I would have a go below with them. It took about ten seconds of carefree whizzing around to take a chunk out of the base of my old boy and start it bleeding like a stuck pig. Tried to stop bleeding but could not so have had to put a sticky plaster at the base of my member ( much to the amusement of my wife)

That is the bad ouch and the fact that I am on the "add Asprin " trials and do not know if I am taking a placebo or one of the two real tablets. Well I can say that as I bled readily I am assuming that I am on one of the two tablets so as far as I am concerned That is good.

Every cloud has a silver lining but unfortunately I will not be using my new pump until my Hampton has healed so delays a bit longer.

Haha your post made me laugh. Yes ones inhibitions tend to go after rectal ultrasound , two TRUS , a template biopsy , cystoscopy , radical prostatectomy , two weeks in hospital with a catheter , ED clinic including Marilyn Monroe giving pump demo and young man injecting my penis ......... The list goes on.
In fact I saw the Doctor the other day and was nearly undressed and bent over the couch before I remembered I'd come in for a thyroid review πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

You could always avoid the bleeding in the first place.

Now Chris , take heed of the useful advice given to you. We don't want any more accidents reported . Best to go for a grade 1 ? Or better still ditch the clippers and use scissors?

I'm now 3 days ahead of you on the pumping front . And starting to perfect the technique. You , well you'll just be an amateur by the time you get going.

And my GP has now prescribed the Cialis as a repeat prescription for me. Things are looking up !

I can't help but wince a little, the removal of pubic (or other unwanted hair) is an art that takes a while to perfect, Tony has mentioned Veet for men so a word of warning for the first time user and based on the original female product.

1) it will remove hair totally from any that it makes contact with, so no head scratching in the process or pausing to stroke the dog or cat!

2) it smells horrible

3) it is very irritating to some people's skin so you could end up with a bright red and itchy hot spot! in the worst case scenario the dog or cat could do too.

Others have mentioned alternative methods such as waxing or using scissors, all feasible.

I could be very bold here and suggest that whichever option you go for, it may be so much easier if somebody else does it. You know better access, better visual targetting etc etc. There is of course a trust element involved after all this is probably one of your most treasured body parts. So maybe Mrs Chris could use her skills to assist?

I hope having been through all this you find the pump and the Cialis a beneficial duo.

I genuinely admire all you guys who can make jokes and retain a sense of hunour when this must be so very difficult to deal with. I salute you all

Yes it's certainly a journey for us all. Chris and I are at very similar stages of treatment and help each other to keep going. The banter between us is possibly the best therapy I could have ( alongside the posts on here).

Thanks for your comments re hair care. I've taken to using scissors - feel I'm more in control . Obviously Chris has a problem with scissors and seemingly anything else! And I am NOT offering to help him .

The combination of both the pump and the Cialis seem to be working well. I have the most supportive GP. I saw her on Monday morning and I am now on repeat prescription for Cialis and the constriction rings. She also said that if this doesn't work for me then go back and we will try something else. She couldn't believe that so many here report that they have had problems in securing help for ED.

Her response was -

" it is your right as a PCa patient to have as much help as possible. If one type of ED meds do not work for a patient , then we have to keep trying until we find one that does. Patients must insist and GPs must help."

Your GP sounds amazing and it is such a shame many others are not , or are restricted by budgets. My doctor is great too , and my ED clinic. Glad you have support as it can be soul destroying I think

Yes, my GP is fantastic. She'd been on a course run by PCUK in January this year. I was the first PCa patient she'd seen after that, so I was bombarded with questions a week later when I saw her. I'm glad you have a supportive doc and ed clinic too.

I think the good rapport I have with her is that I have lost my inhibitions since dx . I have really surprised myself with how easy I find it to discuss anything now and use the proper words rather than euthemisms! Age, maturity or having PCa ? I told her that I was going to post on here about the need for HT patients to seek help for ed.

She said go for it, the more patients are aware the better. Most seeking her help for ED are RP patients , hardly any like me on HT/RT.

The great news for me was that after using the pump on the first day I achieved a dry orgasm. Only lasted a couple of seconds but ..... Heaven! And with no libido too.

Chris PB , hopefully your 'Hampton' is recovering well after the trauma you inflicted on him. So we will expect a full report to be posted here once you are up and running. I've set the standard for you. Just remember to lock away any dangerous items when you start to avoid painful injury . Oh I forgot , you may or may not have a real aspirin to take if you hurt yourself again !

You are very lucky if you can do that without getting a shaving rash - horribly uncomfortable.

It does seem that people are getting a bit over-excited in the smoothness stakes. I can confirm that J only trimmed his pubes with scissors and never had a problem creating a good seal.

This is a great conversation!
I can't see plain old razors mentioned here so far. You really need smooth skin for the pump to create a seal on.
If you keep a razor by bath and/or in the shower you can shave the area where the base of the pump sits, frequently.
Clip or do what you like our side that area ... So much cleaner, and a smarter presentation of your tackle for whoever gets to see it.
