Dear Friends,

A month from now our afternoon function will be over, and our annual Saturday night madness will be in full swing (CAN'T WAIT!)http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif.

For anyone who hasn't booked up it's not too late to claim the last 4 places. If you'd like to attend, please email me a.s.a.p:
georgehardy51@msn.com

As for accommodation, there are no Saturday night rooms left.

The Mill has about four rooms available for Fri 19th, but you'd now have to ring them directly, as I've booked every other one (Fri & Sat) in the appropriate names, and given the remainder back for general sale.

Now, a check list:

VENUE The Mill on The Soar, Coventry Road, Broughton Astley, Leicestershire
Tel: 01455 282419

SAT NAV CODE: LE9 6QD

We start getting into the function room soon after 1pm

Buffet approx. 2pm

Bring your cameras (we always need 100s of photos for the B2PCa albums)

And please have some questions ready for our guest speaker, oncologist Jamie Mills

Last but not least, please bring some beautiful hot weather with you!

Be seeing you all very soon,

Stay well my friends,

George

Dear Friends,

Wishing you all a safe journey to The Mill and a fun filled weekend.http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif

It will be wonderful having so many of us together again to enjoy the Madness.

And folks, I have just received 'THE POEM' from Chris Boothby.

IT HAS TO BE THE BEST EVER!

And our nominated ready (LYN) will have her work cut out.

If ever we can get her blushing, this is the time!http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif

See you all very soon.

On the strength of what has reportedly happened over the previous years I have booked to turn up on Friday as well the Saturday. I do hope that I am not disappointed?

I shall be accompanied, if the agency can provide a new "bezzy mate" for me for the weekend. Ginfers crossed.

Do all you can to help yourself, then make the best of your time. :-)

George

you do an awesome job every year I can't wait for the poem if Lyn blushes you will have so much beer you won't know what to do with it all.

Of course we also have our super fundraiser and marathon man Kevla Irun who has many beers on a promise for him too, hope his good lady can steer him back to their B&B OK!

CB says he is hoping the agency provide him with a hot escort ... I seem to remember him talking on here about an Erica Osborne and Lyn was talking about rings or something so maybe there is a surprise nuptual about to take place?

I personally thought I would just keep it in the family and bring our Karen along again, we are both really looking forward to it , last year was all a bit wobbly for us both but it was the foundation of me starting over. I hope folks will see just how far we have both come in that year thanks to a massive amount of help from family, friends and some very special people here on the forum (and B2PCA)

Weather looks a bit iffy but I am sure it will not deter from the party spirit.

Last one there is a wuss

Dear Friends,

Yet another brilliant weekend! Great to see so many faces there, old and new.

Next summer the date of the event will be Saturday 18th June,

Well, I do hope everyone had a safe and easy journey home.

Honestly, I have so much to thank YOU all for!

I'll admit I'm knackered this morning, but when a few more brain cells return to life, I'll do a big post here.

George

As always you did a brilliant job. Karen and I had a wonderful weekend full of laughter with amazing friends old and new.

At one point I laughed so hard and long I gave myself hiccups..oh alright I confess that might have been down to the wine.

An incredibly successful raffle, Lyn reading Chris B's poem (ha ha ha) and another very informative q and a session with Jamie. The buffet was really good again too lots of ad hoc additions and all round fun.

Have made sure my travels next year do not impinge on 18th June weekend.

I know Lyn expressed our thanks to you but I just wanted to say ydoolb good job George and thanks for everything.

Love you and your family for being so special

Xx

Dear Pole-Dancing, Glider Flying Mo,http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif

Such kind words, thank you, and I'm so pleased to hear you laughed so much.

I have a list a mile long of acknowledgements and thank you notes which I must get posted on here, but at the rate I'm going it will be tomorrow before I have completed a draft I'm happy with (terrified I miss anyone off it!)http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif

So many guys here will agree that Zoladex Fog is a pain in the a$$. That's SO TRUE, innit?

So, Mo....in the meantime, thank you for agreeing to come upstairs with me on Friday night at The Mill.

You really helped me out.http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif

Not many women would have been brave enough to have actually volunteered to do that!http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif

Good afternoon folks.http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

It's 4 o' clock Tuesday, my brain cells now number 15 and I can finally say a big THANK YOU to everyone who attended the B2PCa bash over the weekend.

It was, as always, a joy to meet old friends and quite a few new ones too this time.
I do hope you all 'had a ball' (or two). http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

There were almost 60 of us there, lower than usual because of last minute cancellations due to illness etc.

A huge plus was getting to see Janet and Derek from Australia, members of this site for nine years, known to so many of us for all those years and now we have finally met them personally for the first time.http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

Now for some acknowledgments:

First of all, thank you Si and Ness for getting your excellent oncologist (and all round nice guy) Jamie to give a talk followed by a lively Q & A session. This was so much appreciated by us all.

Next, we must thank Janet (Jlbatty) and all her ladies (you know who you are) who provided such a host of raffle prizes, and DerrickB1943 who once again brought an excellent bottle of Malt Whisky and took on the task of selling the tickets.

And a special mention for Keith Cass MBE, of The Red Sock Campaign in Wales, for his donation of Champagne and for everything he has done to help so many in the past.

The raffle raised £280 for PCUK. I'll be sending them the cheque this week.

Personal donations to Janet for badges, wristbands and key-rings amounted to £31.65 which she'll be sending off to PCUK too.

Total raised for PCUK: £311.65

Thank you Lynne (Cooky) for being our 'Lady of The Badges', Jean for handing out PCUK literature, and Mandy (Mo) for coming upstairs to help me out on Friday night. That lady is fearless!http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

A special thank you to Nikon Steve for bringing the professional touch to all the  photo taking, and as always to Chris (Exbus) who every year takes at least 100 photos. In fact I have loads of them sent to me already.
They will all be in the L2015 album on B2PCa soon, and on our Photobucket site.
If anyone has some photos to send in please email them to me:

georgehardy51@msn.com

The more the merrier!

Now,THE ANNUAL POEM:

For many years now Chris Boothby has penned some outrageous verses for the 'do'.
No one in the room is safe from his wicked humour.

Chris couldn't be with us this year, so we called upon Lyn to do the recital.
I know everyone hoped we'd see her getting flustered and blushing like crazy at the sheer naughtiness of some verses.
But NO. There wasn't one stumble and not even a slight flush on her cheeks.

What a (n)ICE Lady!
The girl did brilliantly. THANK YOU LYN.

By the way, I daren't post the verses on these forums, but I'm sure you'll find a way to see them (nudge nudge wink wink).http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

And thank you to one of our oldest ladies, and I'm sure she won't mind me saying that, Shirley (Mrs Exbus) for reading a poem of her own, filled with old memories and some saucy comments.http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

And speaking of ladies, one tradition was missing this year.
We didn't have the 'Asbo Ladies' carousing with bottles of vino at outside tables till 1am in the morning.

Wassup girls? Getting too old to party wildly?? http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif

Well, it was another great weekend spent in great company, and we can now only relax, and get ready for the next Summer Party 0n 18th June next year.

Incidentally, the annual winter get-together, normally about 20 of us, will take place in London on Wednesday 2nd December. Details later in the year.

I suppose I'll be editing this post countless times because I'm bound to have forgotten some important things to mention.

But for now, THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING THERE, and we'll meet again same place next June.

George, a big thanks for all the hard work that you put in to arrange yet another great do. Also a big thanks to all the attendees who are such great and nice people. All in all these B2PCa events are tops.

Long live the bollockeers.

Thanks so much, Barry and Gary (I can't help typing in rhyme ever since hearing those great 'Boothby Verses' on Saturday).http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif

It's always a pleasure to meet everybody, and you two and your (much) better halveshttp://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif have been to more Mill weekends than I can remember.

The manager there always says that you wouldn't know any of the gang were so ill.

It does help us all to get together and actually forget for a while.

And here's a little something that was read out on Saturday.

I'm sure very many of you will remember Dansencier on these forums?

He was the scourge of useless urologists (I loved the guy for that!)

Anyway, he has been working in Africa for a while and unable to join us all at Leicester.

He sent in this message:

Dear Bollockeers,

I can't be with you all again this year, but would just like to send my very best wishes to all and wish you a fantastic day.

I've just come back from 18 months in South Africa, but at this moment we are preparing to travel to Thailand.

Beverley has got a 3-year contract running an International School in Bangkok.

It was a struggle to think how I could pass the time. There were 2 choices.

1. Teaching English to Thai adults. or

2. Running a girlie-boy bar and massage parlour.

Well my pole dancing was never the same after surgery, so teaching it is.

Only a few days left here now, sad to be leaving but will be nice to sit in a garden without electric fences again.

I got a shock when I relieved myself against one, first time in 4 years I'd felt life in the old man!!

Best wishes

Daniel and Beverley, (of course).http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif

Hi Everyone,

Really pleased to meet everyone at Leicester. I enjoyed doing the pictures, I hope you liked them.

If anyone would like a complete set of the digital files so they can have prints made (off the ones you like), I would be pleased to send them to them. Just PM me with your normal email address and I'll do this for you.

I hope everyone is keeping well.

Hi Steve,

That's a really nice gesture. There are some superb photos in the albums now, and I'm sure some will be treasured.

Nidge, if you contact me I'll put your name on the B2PCa group email for next year (yes, I've already started the list!).

georgehardy51@msn.com

As for allowing non-tipplers to attend? No need to worry about that. I'm the king of the non-tipplers!

Mind you, I did 38 years of championship boozing before deciding to quit 11 years ago.

Looking back, perhaps that was a bad idea. After the healthiest year of my life, I was diagnosed with advanced localised PCa.http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif

Sod's law, innit?

Seriously though, I had been very tired for a year or more, hence my decision to go tee total.

Since my PSA was sky high on diagnosis, I must have had the PCa for a few years, causing the tiredness, so it's a good thing I stopped.

Doing that made me very pro-active in the battle, rather than carrying on 'not giving a stuff'.

Hope to see you next year, and...

CHEERS!http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif
