Slow site response and Internet Explorer issues

User

The hit & miss sequence seems to be back. Log in & read a few threads - then it all just seizes up. Unable to sign out or do anything.

Usually starts to be seen by the avatars not loading properly.

p.s. worked o.k. this afternoon though.....

Site remains unusable for more than 5 mins at a time. I'm fed up with losing text when I try to add replies.

I've hit a weird issue, when using chrome I can get to the prostatecanceruk.org part of the site but it times out on community.prostatecanceruk.org.
Only on one machine and only on chrome. IE works ok.
I've dome the usual, cleared caches, historys etc.
Running a ping resolves ok, using a different browser on the same machine is ok. Weird!
Chrome works on a different machine. So it very specific.

It's got to be something on my chrome set up I guess but I've yet to find it.... :)

Thanks for letting us know! I've reported this to our developers so they can fix it as soon as possible.

In the meantime, several people have said that clearing their cache solves the problem for them. You can find instructions for clearing your cache for most browsers at http://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/ – doing this may make the site work for you.

Best,

Sadie

Thanks Sadie,

But that didn't work any better for me.

Earlier today, it just wouldn't load any threads at all.

When you next experience this issue would you please email onlinecommunity@prostatecanceruk.org with the exact time it happened, what page(s) it happened on, what browser you're using, and any other information about the problem? This was our developers can investigate more deeply and see if it's a server slowdown causing the problems or something separate from the site.

Hi Sadie
I've logged in OK this morning on both IE and Chrome and I can view all conversations shown except Steve's "I just don't believe it"
For that I keep getting a "404 error message"

Noticed that when clicking on a Profile, a conversation comes up instead. Or nothing. http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif

Hi Rob, all the profiles look like they're going to the right place when I click them. Can you tell me which thread you are on when this happens, where you click and whose profile link is going to the wrong place?

Best,

Sadie

Hi Sadie,

It was on this thread ( time as my previous post & still the same now ).

Most of the Profiles on this thread produce the same problem. Today it just flashes the profile momentarily & then goes black & blank.

Thanks Rob. I've reproduced the issue in IE8 and reported it to the developers to fix. What browser and version are you using?

That was on google IE 8.1

Chrome browser just doesn't accept password so can't comment there.

Still seizes up for me at times. I think it is still the avatar loading that gums it up.
